Catarina has worked in ​​civil and commercial litigation, following Restructuring, Insolvency and Credit Recovery processes as a Lawyer responsible for managing and monitoring the litigation processes of several Credit Institutions

Coordinates teams and is the Lawyer responsible for managing and monitoring litigation and pre-litigation processes in Insurance Law, providing support to Insurers in the various insurance sectors
Catarina is also dedicated to monitoring and managing pre-litigation and litigation within the scope of actions in Consumer Arbitration Courts related to Consumer Law and related rights.

She also has experience in monitoring and participated in several purchase and sale transactions of NPL's (Non-Performing Loans).

Before joining MFA, Catarina was a Senior Associate in the Litigation and Arbitration area at Vieira de Almeida e Associados for the last 12 years and worked as an in-house Lawyer at the first NPL management company in Portugal.

  • Catarina has represented large clients, namely credit institutions, in the restructuring of large economic groups in the construction and pharmaceutical sectors, monitoring and supporting the strategic definition, whether procedural or extrajudicial, contributing to the success of transactions.
  • Monitors and supports the management of multinational pre-litigation and litigation, with great economic and social impact on the country, in the relationship with the various contractual parties, whether business partners or consumers.
  • Participated and monitored, together and in collaboration with the Banking & Finance areas, purchase and sale transactions of NPL's (Non-Performing Loans), in the various aspects of the business, both on the seller's side (Banking) and on the buyer's side and Financing bank of the operation, and on the side of the credit portfolio manager (servicers).

  • Degree in Law from the Portuguese Catholic University Law School - Lisbon (1997 - 2003).
  • Postgraduate in International Trade from the University of Lisbon Law School (2004 - 2005).

  • Registered with the Portuguese Bar Association.
  • Member of INSOL EUROPE.
